Duties of the District ClerkThe Texas Constitution, Article 5, Section 9 – “There shall be a Clerk for the District Court of each county, who shall be elected by the qualified voters and who shall hold his office for four years.” The District Clerk provides support for the district courts and is the custodian of all court pleadings and papers that are part of any cause of action, civil or criminal, in all courts served by the Clerk. What is eFile Texas and re:SearchTX?
eFileTexas is the statewide electronic filing system used by attorneys, self-represented litigants, and courts across Texas. Instead of submitting paper filings at the clerk’s counter, users upload their documents through eFileTexas, and those filings are automatically routed to the appropriate court for review and acceptance by the clerk. In short: it’s the front door where court documents are filed electronically. Sign up at https://efiletexas.gov. If you do not want to use E-file, as a self-represented party (pro se party), you may file paper documents in the District Clerk’s Office.
re:SearchTX is the online document access system that works hand-in-hand with eFileTexas. Judges and clerks use it for quick access to filings, and attorneys can review case materials without having to request physical files. In short: it’s the digital “file cabinet” where those e-filed documents can be viewed. Register at https://research.txcourts.gov. Re:SearchTX will notify you of any filings, orders, judgments, and important notices from the court and clerk. Be sure to check emails from noreply@research.txcourts.gov. The clerks in the Lubbock County District Clerk's Office will no longer individually e-serve order/notices; attorneys must register with re:SearchTX and rely on those case notices (TRCP Rule 21(f)(10)).
